One item which crops up & could mean an MOT failure is the fuel cap!

If you look inside the cap itself you’ll see a sealing o-ring, the photo on the left shows the seal which has degraded over time with the photo on the right showing a new cap with seal fully intact. For the sake of a few quid, unscrew your cap and have a peek at your seal.

If you notice your cap is looking like the photo on the left….then get it looking like the one on the right! You’ll also get a new retaining cord​.

Chances are it’ll be down to your engine mounts, the factory mounts are oil filled rubber components which over the years deteriorate and allow excess movement between the engine & chassis.

We are now regularly replacing the factory items with the RSS semi solid setup, using a polyurethane bush. This gives an unbelievable difference to the handling, gear changes & over all driving experience, whilst also out lasting the overall lifespan against the original units, this is a no brainer upgrade.

In preparation for its voyage to le mans classic later this year, this 968 went under the knife.

First on the list was to sort out the well worn anti roll bar bushes using Powerflex units. Whilst the brackets were off, a good clean & a bit of paint made them look a lot better too!

She also underwent steam cleaning to remove years of crud making it easier to find the oil leaks.

Now prep begins to have the power steering pump rebuilt along with various tired engine seals which are not keeping oil in.

Today we throw back to when Specialist Motorworx spent the day at Castle Combe for the Stroke Association Charity day!

We had a great time putting on passenger laps in a glorious Audi R8 V10 for the donating public from young to old.

To say it was a bit wet out there would be an understatement! But we’re sure that just added to the thrills for our lucky passengers!

The track season has now started and the race season is FAST approaching. It’s looking to be a very busy but great year and we cannot wait to get going. Keep an eye out for our plans – it’s going to be good!

The Porsche coolant cap is one of the most over looked parts on a car! The caps keep the entire cooling system pressurised to a set pressure.

Unfortunately with the ’00’ & ’01’ caps especially, the pressure rating was not good enough. This can lead to overheating and loss of coolant!

Many people still drive around with these earlier caps fitted to their vehicles. For the cost of the part it’s not worth taking the risk.  Make sure to share this with your Porsche pals!
